Like no other time in life, University intensifies the social dynamics of personal, emotional, and spiritual adjustments, with all the inherent joys, fears, frustrations, triumphs, and failures they can bring. Campus social life translates into living under special conditions with many people from diverse backgrounds and tastes, with varying responses to intellectual and social pressures confronted in a University.
Life at KHEU is therefore intentionally directed toward making this academic and social adventure a positive, wholesome, and educational community experience by weaving together the academic, spiritual, and social dynamics into a holistic experience focused on growing into the person God has designed us to be. Learning is not restricted to the classroom or chapel, but extends to every arena of social experiences offered, wherein the student can assimilate knowledge and perspective in forging a mature Christian character.
1. Outreach Ministries
Evangelism Team (ET) is a student group which is organized for the purpose of preaching the Gospel door-to-door and in open-air meetings in nearby communities several times a term. The planning and ministry of these outreaches is done together with the local church members, and supported through the weekly prayer meetings by the team members.
Christian Witness Team (CWT) is a small group of students selected by the General Faculty Assembly for the purpose of representing the college in diverse outreach ministries such as music, drama, and preaching to the surrounding schools, local churches, and urban churches supporting KHEU.
2. Athletics
Facilities are available for volleyball, football, table tennis, darts, and badminton. Opportunities are provided daily for recreational and/or intramural play.
Teams are selected annually for the above sports to represent the University in inter-collegiate competitions held throughout the year with Christian colleges from western Kenya and Nairobi, (Nairobi Fellowship of Theological Colleges Tournaments) as well as the Tenwek-Kaboson-KHBC Annual Tournament.
3. Clubs
The Drama Club writes its own skits and plays and performs at the University, secondary schools and churches.
The Debate Team conducts announced campus community forums and formal debates on poignant issues confronting contemporary culture.
The KHEU Times is the school newspaper, and members do the planning, writing, and editing for each issue.
4. Student Government
A Student Council consisting of democratically-chosen students and faculty-appointed Residence Hall Assistants oversees student needs in the University.
They are responsible for planning their own activities, making a budget for and administering funds from the Student Activity Fee, and sending student concerns to the faculty through the Dean of Students.
5. Entertainment
Student-planned social nights are held at least twice during the term, and may involve games, skits, videos or movies.
Information about the world beyond KHEU is available through televised programmes, radio broadcasts, and local newspapers delivered daily to the college
