The Principal
The Principal is the administrative and academic head of the College. He shall execute all the actions of the College Council and apply the policies established by it in relation to the faculty, to the student body and the community. All other officers and workers of the College shall work under the direction of and be responsible to the Principal in the management of the College.
He may assign or delegate any of his duties to the Deputy Principal or any other senior officer of the College and may withdraw any such delegation or assignment at will. His major duties shall include:
1. Give leadership and direction to academic, administrative, spiritual and physical development of the College
2. Ensure that decisions made in various committees are implemented
3. Be the liaison between the College, the Africa Gospel Church, and the larger community
4. Ensure that members of faculty and staff are performing according to their terms and conditions of service
5. The Principal shall be the chairperson of the General Faculty Assembly and the Management Board.Where the Principal is a member of a committee, he shall be the chairperson.
6. Ensure that committees are functioning according to their terms of reference
The Deputy Principal
The Deputy Principal is responsible for maintenance of buildings, grounds and security staff. In the absence of the Principal from the College, he will act in his position. He shall maintain a close liaison with the Principal in all of his responsibilities. His major duties shall include:
1. Keep an up-to-date inventory of all the College property
2. Be the Chairperson of the Student Disciplinary Committee, the Information Technology Committee and the Spiritual Ministries Committee.
The Academic Dean
The Academic Dean is responsible for the academic programmes of the College. He shall be responsible to the Principal for the routine internal academic functions of the College. His major duties shall include:
1. Select courses for each term in consultation with chairpersons of departments, make faculty assignments, and prepare timetables
2. Study curricula and methods of instruction used in the College and recommend needed changes
3. Work with the faculty and the librarian in the selection of textbooks and other teaching materials
4. Direct self-study exercises for internal evaluation and accreditation
5. Handle grievances related to academic matters
Organization of the College
The Librarian
The Librarian is considered as a faculty member, and is responsible to the Principal in matters relating to the library. His major duties shall include:
1. Plan, develop, and evaluate library services to ensure studious atmosphere in the library
2. Acquire in consultation with Chairpersons of Departments new publications and other library materials
3. Classify and catalogue library materials
4. Provide reference, search, and bibliographic services to library users
5. Conduct user-education to students and faculty
The Lecturers
The lecturer is responsible to the Department Chairperson as relating to academic matters, and to the Principal in matters relating to administration. The Lecturers shall strive to challenge the students think critically and analytically in practical courses, to make practical applications of theoretical courses, and to compare all that is taught with the revealed truths of God.
1. Teach courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson and Academic Affairs Committee
2. Evaluate students on courses taught
3. Be available to students as an academic and spiritual advisor and counselor
4. Attend all faculty meetings and serve as requested on committees
5. Serve each term as master/mistress on duty on a rotational basis
6. Prepare and support students in their field ministry assignments
7. Participate in students activities
8. Participate in chapel services
9. Cooperate with the Principal and other faculty members for the smooth running of the College
10. Promote evangelical doctrine and prepare students to understand diversity of religious worldview
11. Continue personal growth in knowledge, skills and spiritual development and assist in the developing academic scholarship in his department
The Secretary
The Secretary is responsible to the Principal, and performs the duties of typing office work, receiving and directing visitors to appropriate persons and places, and handling incoming and outgoing phone calls. Other duties shall include:
1. Type official letter, documents and academic transcripts
2. File official documents
3. Deliver all circulars and other official documents as directed
The Cateress
The Cateress is responsible to the Business Manager in matters relating to the food preparation, purchasing of food and kitchen equipment. Other duties will include:
1. Supervise the kitchen staff, and ensure that they are free from any communicable diseases
2. Plan the menus for the week
3. Order supplies for the kitchen
4. Ensure that quality cooking and hygienic conditions are maintained
5. Supervise the cleaning of the kitchen and Dinning Hall
6. Facilitate entertainment for College quests
7. Prepare periodic reports and inventories as required by the administration
8. Co-operate with the Dinning Hall Supervisor in carrying out his duties as stipulated in the Student Handbook
The Residential Hall Assistants
The Residential Hall Assistants are responsible to the Dean of Students, and as they relate to the administration, the major duties are:
1. Give guidance in spiritual, social and personal matters to students in his or her assigned hall
2. Report maintenance problems in writing to the Deputy Principal
3. Report the illness of any hall member to the Campus Nurse
4. Report to the Dean of Students immediately if someone is absent
5. Be responsible for a high standard of cleanliness in and around the hall
6. Assist in assigning student duties
7. Report social problems to the Dean of Students as soon as they arise
8. Ensure that visitors are cared for and that the proper account is charged for their stay
9. Co-operate in maintaining harmonious and well-ordered atmosphere in the College
10. Serve in turn as duty RHA and assist the Faculty Member on Duty
11. Check every night to ensure that all students have reported to their halls by lights-out time
6. Be the chairperson of the Library Committee
7. Direct the student recruitment activities
8. Oversee graduation ceremonies
9. Oversee the supervision and maintenance of an up-to-date textbook room inventory
The Business Manager
The Business Manager is responsible to the Principal for the financial and business functions of the College. It is his duty to arrange the purchase of all supplies and equipment as he may be authorized by the Principal, and to ensure timely payments to suppliers and other creditors. His major duties shall include:
1. Control the College finances to ensure that expenses fall within the approved budget
2. Formulate financial policies
3. Prepare monthly trial balances and annual financial reports
4. Prepare short-range and long-range cash flow projections
5. Direct the disbursement of salaries, allowances, work study and scholarship funds
6. Manage the income-generating projects of the College
7. Manage insurance matters related to College personnel and property
8. Supervise the Business Office staff
9. Supervise the kitchen and staff
The Dean of Students
The Dean of Students is responsible to the Principal in matters relating to student affairs. His major duties shall include:
1. Represent the faculty in the Student Association meetings
2. Be in charge of student accommodation and conduct
3. Co-ordinate student recreation activities
The Campus Nurse
The Campus Nurse is responsible to the Deputy Principal in matters relating to health services, and to the Business Manager in matters relating to purchasing of medications and medical equipment. The major duties of the Campus Nurse will be:
1. Maintain a health facility for students, faculty and staff
2. Provide first aid to students, faculty and staff
3. Facilitate health examination for students, faculty and staff
4. Maintain health records for each member of the College community
5. Recommend absence or sick-leave from classes or duties due to illness or accident
6. Assess students daily who are reported to be ill by the residence hall assistants
7. Issues medical referrals to students, faculty and staff
8. Visit hospitalized students or maintain daily contract by phone if necessary
9. Prevent, identify, evaluate and monitor any communicable diseases that might arise on campus
10. Facilitate or coordinate transportation of students needing health care beyond that which College dispensary provides
11. Advise students and staff on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and provide activities and literature which promote prudent health care
The Department Chairpersons
The Chairperson of a department is responsible to the Academic Dean, and his major duties shall include:
1. Assist the Academic Dean in course selection, faculty assignments, and preparation of timetable
2. Consult with the faculty in the department regarding assignments
3. Develop with the faculty the goals of the department
4. Direct internal moderation of exams and syllabi within the department
5. Identify staffing needs and make requisitions for materials, supplies and equipment within the department
6. Review each student’s progress each term and provide needed counseling
7. Represent the department on Academic Affairs Committee
8. Guide each student into appropriate programmes of study which will meet graduation requirements
The Campus Chaplain
The Campus Chaplain is responsible to the Dean of Students in matters relating to the spiritual welfare of the College. His major duties shall include:
1. Provide counseling services to students, faculty and staff
2. Plan the spiritual activities of the College
3. Supervise student Christian ministries
The Registrar of Admissions and Records
The Registrar is responsible to the Academic Dean in managing the records of prospective, current and former students. His major duties shall include:
1. Assist the Academic Dean in student recruitment activities
2. Provide safe custody of all records pertaining to admissions, registration, enrollment and academic grades
3. Direct the admission process
4. Prepare, maintain and issue academic transcripts
5. Scrutinize student records an prepare the list of those who qualify for various awards and graduation
6. Coordinating hospitality days
7. Overseeing textbook room acquisitions and disbursements
